Placeholderish. Salo is seven years old and wakes to find his mother standing by his bed; something is definitely wrong, and when he tries to get up, she summons thorny vines to hold him in place. He tries to get free, increasingly panicked, but his mother isn't moved. Tendrils of the vines force his eyelids open, and she pours acid on them, boiling them away completely and leaving Salo in blind agony; he starts screaming and doesn't stop, the vines releasing him enough to claw frantically at his face, as she watches him in silence.
